It was my first visit to the south west. The place was totally different from Spokane, such as the food, buildings, people, weather and culture. It seemed like another country. They were very interesting and attractive. I acquired a lot of things through this trip.
First of all, I was impressed by the Native Americans who lived in incredible places. First, I went to Acoma pueblo. It was called Sky City because they lived on top of a high mesa. When I saw the big sandstone in the bus, I couldn't believe that people live there, because it was very high, and I was curious about why people decided to live there. The reason is because the people wanted to protect their pueblo. The ascent must be difficult to climb. Next, I went to Montezuma Castle, and it is the cliff dwelling. They lived in the cliff in 1125 to 1450, but we don't know why they left. Thus it is a mystery. I think their knowledge is abundant, because they choose to live in a place that has three very hash weather throughout the year. They were able to survive the cold winter, hot summer and flooding. Moreover, when they went there, they used ladders, and if they took the ladders away, their enemies couldn't come in. I was surprised about that.Today, although some countries are still fighting wars to gain territories, most people don't think about that including me. I think they have more wisdom for living than us.
Next, the Grand Canyon had magnificent scenery. The view of the sunrise and sunset surpassed my expectations. I can't believe it was eroded by rain and rivers, and also, it was under the sea once upon a time. I noticed natural phenomenon had a big impact on the Grand Canyon. Before visiting there, I thought the Grand Canyon is one of the largest canyons in the world, but in fact this was the second one. While I walked around there, I didn't realize that the Grand Canyon was so famous, but almost all of the people knew. The reason it has a lot of geological information, it contains 2000 million years of earth's history. I learned that from the Yavapai geology Museum. I think it is important to not enjoy just viewing the landscapes, but also we should learn about its history. In Japan, when I go sightseeing, I just enjoy looking at the landscapes: however I noticed if I learn about its background, I can enjoy the place more deeply.
Finally, there are many different kinds of the food in the south west. I ate Mexican food and Navajo burger. It was my first time eating them and it was very good. I want to experience and eat food that I have never eaten.
In conclusion, I acquired many things. I can't fully express my feeling for this trip, because I enjoyed it so much. I will never forget about this experience.
