Have you ever seen “Food Models”? It is a model that looks like real food, and is a useful method to show what is in a dish in detail. In general, in Japan, almost all restaurants put them in a showcase at restaurants or malls. Food models attract customers and make people really want to eat food. Also, by using them, people can understand how different food characteristics are in each region. The history of food models is unclear, but thanks to the expansion of western food culture, they progressed dramatically. Surprisingly, food models have influenced many foreign countries! As you can see, food models are connected with people’s lives deeply. My presentation will introduce you to the cultural value of food models in Japan. Also, it will change your ideas about Japanese food culture dramatically and emotionally.
