My Awesome Thanksgiving Holiday

During Thanksgiving holiday, I had a great time with my host family. Akiho and I have been roommate since the regular program, so we have the same host family as the regular program. Since last semester, my host family had been looking forward to spending time with us, and I had also been excited to meet them. They told us about Thanksgiving plan; to eat Thanksgiving food, shopping for Black Friday, and to go to the mountain to cut a Christmas tree.

I went to my host mother’s grandmother’s house on Thursday. She lives in kind of forest and her house was made by her husband. He was a carpenter. Then, I was surprised to see a lot of food such as turkey, many kinds of pies, potatoes, shrimps, salad. The delicious food was made by my host mother’s grandmother. Also, we helped to cook pumpkin pie. She taught us a lot of secrets to make delicious pumpkin pie, for example, use iced water, and use egg white before baking.

Then, at 12:30 a.m., we left her house to go to shopping for Black Friday. Even for my host mother and her boyfriend, it was a first time to go to Black Friday. I had never shopped at midnight, so I was really excited. When, I arrived at the mall, I was surprised to see many people. I could not believe the situation because there are many people than usual daytime. I have one more thing that surprised me. It is the long line to go to the resister. It takes an hour to buy something because there are many people who lined up. I could not believe the situation and actually I didn’t want to line up because I was sleepy. I bought 2 DVDs, Mr. & Ms. Smith and Night Museum. It was just $3.99 each DVD. Then I came back at our host family’s house at 5 a.m., and I was really tired but I enjoyed Black Friday so much.

On the next day, we went to Idaho to cut a Christmas tree. It was a first time for me to go to Idaho. My host family has a license to cut trees. I knew that we need a license to cut tree and there are districts which allow cutting tree. Then, we climbed the mountain by car, there was much snow. To find a good tree was difficult because my host family had an assumption; bushy, dark green, and good height. After looking for a tree for about 2 hours, we found a good tree and we cut it. I tried to help them to cut it, but it was hard for me. Finally, we cut a small tree for our dormitory. I enjoyed to spend time in the forest, so I really had a great time with them.

During Thanksgiving holiday, I could refresh my feeling. Recently, I feel stress. I am happy to spend time with my favorite host family.

Fabulous Southwest Trip

The Southwest trip was absolutely amazing because I leaned the culture of the area a lot. I spent 7 days in the southwest and I impressed by people who live there and by their culture. These things were totally different from Japan and the people there preserved their traditions carefully. I talk to a lot of Americans and I saw wonderful nature during the trip. There are three absolutely wonderfu and amazing places that I enjoyed. First, I went to a lot of museums and all of them were very interesting. I especially liked The Museum of International Folk Art. The museum has more than 130,000 objects from more than 100 countries! My favorite object was a smiling skeleton doll. This object’s theme was Day of The Dead. When I saw it, I remembered COCO which is a Pixar movie. I also liked The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Respectable Voice of The Japanese American

Respectable Voice of The Japanese American Chisato Fujii When I saw this poem, I felt strong feeling of this poet like “I am an American,” and I also felt this poet’s voice like “Why am I not treated as an American?” I’ve never lived in this period of world war Ⅱ , and of course, I’ve never experienced this suffering and war, but I could feel people’s voice of this period thanks to this poet. Without these Japanese Americans’ voices, I couldn’t feel and understand their feeling and thought. When I understand this poem’s meaning, this poem made me sad, but I also understood Japanese Americans were proud of themselves in the middle of the war. I respect them and am proud.

Memorable Southwest Trip

I had an absolutely amazing time through on the southwest trip with fabulous teachers and friends for one week. I went to so many special places such as the Grand Canyon. I really wanted to go there and I was able to have a various experiences at the Grand Canyon. In addition, I ate a ton of southwest food and spicy food during this trip. This trip was most memorable for me for three reason for that. Amazing Grand Canyon First, I had many most amazing memories at the Grand Canyon. I really wanted to go to the Grand Canyon, so my dreams came true. We went to the Mather point at first. That was my first time to see the Grand Canyon. I was really surprised and impressed. It was like a picture, so I was really confused when I was saw that. Then I went to the next point to see the sunset. The sunset was absolutely gorgeous. I was really impressed.
