Awesome Portland Trip Experiences

Awesome Portland Trip Experiences

Traveling is exciting, isn’t it? I extremely enjoyed the educational Portland trip with extension students from November 9 to 12. I went to many nice places, such as Museums, Powell’s bookstore, the Saturday market, and so on.  On my trip, I was able to have three awesome experiences. My favorite experiences were going to Columbia Basin College, visiting Uwajimaya: a Japanese grocery store, and watching a men’s basketball game.

First, I had a wonderful experience going to Columbia Basin College on the first day. I was really glad to see the Japanese class students again because some students visited MFWI during the Spring semester. I introduced MFWI to the students and we had a nice time. At the college, I shared my Japanese culture presentation with the students. This was the first time to share so it was very difficult to explain. However, they gave me advice, so it was very helpful for me. In addition, they taught me some difficult pronunciation. After this, I enjoyed talking with them. It was a short time, but I was able to benefit from the time.

Delicious Noodle Restaurant
Second, my visit to the Uwajimaya store in Portland was absolutely interesting. There was a lot of Japanese merchandise, such as rice-crackers, nattos and ramen cups. In addition, there were obentou and rice-balls. I've never seen these merchandise in America. The store is really similar to Japanese supermarkets so I was surprised. In addition, I ate shoyu ramen in Ryomaya which is inside Uwajimaya. It was amazingly delicious and impressive so I ate it in just about three minutes. I thought it was the same as the Japanese taste so I felt like I was in Japan. I was happy to go there!
Thrilling game

Third, I was impressed by the basketball game at the University of Portland on the third day. This was the first time to watch for me so I was incredibly excited! I supported the University of Portland team which is called the Pilots. I cheered and the game got really lively. During
the beginning of the game, the Pilots were leading with about 10 points because they were really good at three point shoots. I expected the team to win, but the opponent team
gradually got points. Finally, the opposing team had a comeback win by five points. My supported team lost so I was sad, but both of teams were very strong and I thought the game was extremely wonderful. I was thrilled by watching it.

In conclusion, I had a fabulous time going to many places. I especially enjoyed experiencing the Columbia Basin College, Uwajimaya, and watching the baseball game. It was a really meaningful time because I could make nice memories with my friends. I am grateful that I could visit a new city and some amazing places there. My trip gave me many wonderful Portland experiences.

Neccesary Shopping

I can do amazing shopping in the U.S. I don’t actually go shopping so often in Japan because I don’t want to spend money. However, I can’t help buying things here. One of the reasons I love the U.S. is shopping. I am so excited to go shopping here more than in Japan. A shopping in America is fantastic for three reasons. My Favorite Clothes of Holister First of all, there are many kinds of shops in Spokane. That means I have many choices to buy something. In Japan, I can’t buy easily things I want because Japan doesn’t have my favorite shops. In addition, I have to pay more in Japan than in America. If someone asks me my recommendation in America, I’d introduce incredible shops, such as Hollister , Bath and Body , Victoria’s Secret , and American Eagle , and Yankee. These shops are highly famous in the U.S, and I can't buy products of Hollister and Bath and body and Victoria’s Secret in Japan except online shopping. The other thing, I can visit other shops in Japan, but I’m s...

My Precious Experience

The Awesome View at the Fair I have been having a good time since I came here. The teachers, RAs and staff at MFWI welcomed us warmly, so I was very happy and I am also happy now. My life at MFWI is little different from the last semester, but I'm really enjoying this life. Anyway, we went to  the Spokane Interstate Fair  on Tuesday, and I had wonderful experiences that I had never experienced before. The food was very appetizing. First, I was very hungry when we arrived there, so I ate a funnel cake, a big piece of chicken and some pizza. I had never eaten such a big cake and a piece of chicken, so I was excited and happy to eat them. They were very tasty, so I wanted to eat more food. Then, I noticed that a difference between America and Japan. Japanese festivals or fairs also have many branch stores and the food they serve...

My Unbelievable Southwest Trip

I experienced a lot of amazing things for seven days with my absolutely wonderful teachers and friends from October 15-21 and learned a lot of Southwest culture, history, and nature. For example, we went to about 12 museums and facilities, such as the Pueblo Cultural Center, the University of Mexico, and some churches in New Mexico and Arizona. Therefore, I kept busy on the trip, but it became something I have never experienced because everything I saw was new to me. There are three things that especially impressed me. First, I was attracted to the buildings of New Mexico. These were really different from Spokane, Boston, or Washington D.C. For example, I went to Old Town in Albuquerque. Then I noticed that almost all the buildings were made of adobe. Adobe means mud brick in Spanish, so the buildings I saw were brown and some parts were air blue. I felt comfortable there. I also saw a plaza and a church which were adobe style buildings. The plaza is the most central part in Old T...
