Great Experiences of Portland Trip

I had wonderful times with all extension student in Portland. In four days, I experienced a lot of things that I had never been before, such as talking with Columbia Basin College students, buying the items which made by people in Portland and enjoying at the huge bookstore. In these places, I learned a lot of new information and found amazing places in Portland. There were three places on the trip that impressed me most.
A great picture with students at the Columbia Basin College
First of all, I enjoyed talking with students in Columbia Basin College. My partner was a man who is 23 years old, and he can speak English, Spanish, French and Japanese. I was really surprised at his numbers of speaking languages. At first, I taught him how to make a paper crane. It was a little difficult for me to teach in English, but he was good at making it, so I could teach it. After, he gave me a bookmark which written his words. He thought about a long times, he made “haiku”. It’s like short poem. He also wrote a pictures with haiku. I was really impressed his haiku, and I was very glad to get the bookmark. After this activity, I introduced “Okinawa”. It’s my presentation topic. It was very difficult to explain about Okinawa, and also he sometimes looked misunderstanding. I thought that practice was very important, and I have to practice more. Therefore, visiting the Columbia Basin College was a great opportunity for me, and talking with students were really fun.
the lovely shop, the Voodoo doughnuts
Next, I felt that the Saturday Market was a fabulous place. There were unique shops that sold hand-made items in Oregon. I really enjoyed doing just window-shopping. However I found great items there. They were a passport case and a card case. They were very unique, because one of them was made of a picture book and the other was made of a magazine. These pictures were so cute, and I had never seen them before. After buying cute items, I went to buy the Voodoo doughnuts. The store was so popular, so I waited to buy doughnuts for about 50 minutes. I really like doughnuts since I was a little child, so I wanted to eat them! The doughnuts were so big, but I are two doughnuts easily. They were very yummy, so I was very happy. Therefore, I enjoyed spending times at Saturday Market, and I would like to go there again.
Amazing the Powell's bookstore
Finally, visiting the Powell’s bookstore was a precious memory for me. There were very lovely stationeries in the bookstore. I love to look for them, so I really enjoyed very much. However there was a huge bookstore that I had never seen before, so I looked for my favorite items for a long times, and couldn’t decide items I wanted to buy. Finally, I found the travel journal notebooks, and I liked the designs, so I bought them. I would like to write journal about some trips that I have experienced. I thought that if my house were near the Powell’s bookstore, I would like to go there every week. It might be not get tired of looking for books and items. Therefore, there were a lot of books and items and I could find the pretty journal notebooks, so it gave me a great pleasure.
To sum up, the Portland trip was exciting trip. The reason why I was excited, I enjoyed talking with a student at Columbia Basin College, and it was so interesting for me. In addition, the items which I could get in Portland were special. The hand-made items were so pretty, and I will never forget to visit such a huge bookstore! Therefore, I could spend valuable times in Portland, and I would like to go there again, someday.

Fabulous Southwest Trip

The Southwest trip was absolutely amazing because I leaned the culture of the area a lot. I spent 7 days in the southwest and I impressed by people who live there and by their culture. These things were totally different from Japan and the people there preserved their traditions carefully. I talk to a lot of Americans and I saw wonderful nature during the trip. There are three absolutely wonderfu and amazing places that I enjoyed.     First, I went to a lot of museums and all of them were very interesting. I especially liked The Museum of International Folk Art. The museum has more than 130,000 objects from more than 100 countries! My favorite object was a smiling skeleton doll. This object’s theme was Day of The Dead. When I saw it, I remembered COCO which is a Pixar movie. I also liked The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Georgia O’Keeffe was an American artist and she painted a lot of flowers and nature. I think her paintings are brimming with kindness ...

Completely amazing trip

I had a good time visiting the Southwest USA with Extension students from 15 to 21, October. It was an education trip and I experienced new things and there was a lot of nature which is comfortable for me. I was looking forward to going on the Southwest trip for a long time. I have image that the Southwest is very hot but this place was cold than Spokane. It was interesting that the temperature was totally different in the same place. There were three emotions that I experienced on this trip. First, I was moved by the beautiful landscape of the Grand Canyon. It is absolutely enormous. When I look down the cliff, I remembered the teacher's caution for us that there are lots of people who die and I scared. I and my roommate wanted to see the sunrise so we tried to got up at 4:00 a.m. and then we could see the sunrise which was really fabulous. After that, we decided to rent a  bicycle but we changed our mind and because we had lots of time. Surprisingly, we walked 10 miles aro...

My Unbelievable Southwest Trip

I experienced a lot of amazing things for seven days with my absolutely wonderful teachers and friends from October 15-21 and learned a lot of Southwest culture, history, and nature. For example, we went to about 12 museums and facilities, such as the Pueblo Cultural Center, the University of Mexico, and some churches in New Mexico and Arizona. Therefore, I kept busy on the trip, but it became something I have never experienced because everything I saw was new to me. There are three things that especially impressed me. First, I was attracted to the buildings of New Mexico. These were really different from Spokane, Boston, or Washington D.C. For example, I went to Old Town in Albuquerque. Then I noticed that almost all the buildings were made of adobe. Adobe means mud brick in Spanish, so the buildings I saw were brown and some parts were air blue. I felt comfortable there. I also saw a plaza and a church which were adobe style buildings. The plaza is the most central part in Old T...
