I had a great time in the admirable city Portland. In the early November, I went to Portland as my study trip with extension students for 5 days. I could feel the history and beauty of Portland a lot. I especially enjoyed meeting people. Every experiences that I had was reasonable. I would like to share my 3 best memories of this trip.

The cute earrings I got in Saturday Market |
Second, I visited Saturday Market in Portland. There were many hand crafting and souvenir shops. I thought the market was like Japanese free market. I bought a pair of cut earrings that was made from broken skateboard. The owner of this shop said the skateboard was also made in Portland. I was very surprised about it. I really liked the idea that make new thing from old thing that made in the local area. I saw many more shops that were rooted in this city. I could feel the culture of Portland there. That was fashionable but not gaudy.
Finally, I went to Powell's book store. This bookstore is one of the biggest bookstore in the world. And it was just amazing! When I entered there, I felt like I was in the jungle of books. I had about 2 hours to explore here, but it was not enough to see around everything, because there were about 100 million books! I really liked the atmosphere in this shop. However there were many tempting books, so I took so many times to pick good books. After my deep consideration, I got 2 picture books for me and my nephew. The store was very crowded, but I could enjoy exploring the forest of ton of books. I wish I could go there again and spend all day!
In conclusion, I really enjoyed every single moments at my Portland trip.At the Columbia Basin Collegge, I experienced very good conversation with students. And at Saturday Market and Powell’s Bookstore, I could feel cool culture of Portland. I could felt culture of Portland, and got confidence of speaking English. It was the greatest study trip I had ever had. I want to use this experiences for improving my English and understanding American culture.
