The Southwest Trip was absolutely wonderful. The Southwest
culture was really cool and there were so many beautiful places. Each place
showed deep, great history of people, nature and art. The southwest culture, especially
Acoma was special and completely different from any place. There are 4
beautiful places that showed lots of brilliant history and fascinating culture.
First,
Santa Fe was totally amazing. I liked adobe buildings so much because they all
looked so pretty. I could go and see many places, such as the oldest church in
the U.S. and some famous museums, and I learned a lot of history. There were
many people around the Plaza selling the jewelry which is made by them. So, I
really enjoyed learning their culture, shopping and beautiful scenery in Santa Fe.
Next, Acoma
was incredibly wonderful place. We visited Sky City, which was a super valuable
experience. Acoma was completely different from Spokane, and I was really
surprised that people are still living in such a historical place. There were
only adobe buildings, and many artists were selling their arts, like pottery
and beaded jewelry made by them. I leaned about the history of Native Americans,
and visiting Acoma was a precious time for me.
Then, the Grand Canyon was
extremely and incredibly magnificent. I had never been to such a beautiful
place, and I had a really wonderful time at the Grand Canyon. I went to see the
sunrise with my group members, which was an unforgettable memory for me because
it was not the same as usual; it was brilliant. I also learned the history of the
Grand Canyon, like how was made and how old it is, and it was really
interesting.
At the
Grand Canyon, I especially enjoyed cycling and having a picnic with my group
members. Cycling in the beautiful nature was a really pleasant time because I
could feel nature more than walking. Also, having a picnic, which is a
brilliant idea, was super fun. While on a picnic I saw four elk from very close
distance, and it was one of special experiences of this trip. So, I could feel
the great nature of the Grand Canyon a lot.
Finally,
the saguaro cactus was really huge and I felt the amazing history of nature
again. It was much bigger than I expected, so I was so surprised when I stood
next to that cactus. This is a big group picture with all extension students,
and I really like this picture. Everyone looks very small because of this big
cactus as if it is a composite photograph. So, I learned how nature is
magnificent and important in the Southwest.
In conclusion, I had an amazing time visiting many beautiful
places, seeing wonderful scenery, and learning lots of fabulous history of
culture and nature. I was really happy to go on this trip as an extension
student, and I will work harder than before because I got lots of power and
energy trough this trip. I want to thank everyone who gave me such a great
opportunity.
