My Unforgettable Southwest Trip

I had a satisfied time that I have never had. I went to Southwest with Extension students on October 10th through the 16th. This trip was a valuable experience for me, and I impressed some places.

Wonderful place, Santa Fe
First of all, Santa Fe was memorable place. Santa Fe is a capital city in New Mexico and the oldest city in U.S.A. Therefore, this city had a historical atmosphere. I went to three churches. These churches were very wonderful, but each museum has a quality all its own. I especially like Loretto Chapel, because there was a beautiful spiral staircase. Long ago, angels descended from the sky to top of the spiral staircase. I thought I’d like to hold my wedding ceremony such a fabulous chapel When I heard the story. After that, I went shopping with my friends around Palace of the Governors. There were many booths in the place. I bought pierced earrings for my friends. Those lovely pierced earrings are made sea shell. I’m pleased with them immediately. In addition, Santa Fe is famous for arts. Therefore, I visited three museums. I especially like The Museum of International Folk Art, because there were unique and cute exhibits in the museum. I liked an outlook on the world in exhibits. To sum up, I’m really glad that I could come here.

Group photograph in the university of New Mexico
Second, it was fantastic experience to visit the university of New Mexico and Laguna/Acoma high school. The reason is that I could make some friends at the university of New Mexico. We talked a lot about differences between America and Japan such as school life, the way of spending time after university and so on. A girl named Crystal has liked Japanese Anime. She has known about Japanese anime better than me, so I was surprised. She told me to want to visit Japan someday. We made a promise. The promise was that if she come to Japan, I would guide her some places where she’s interested in. I’m looking forward to going out with her. I also visited Laguna/Acoma school. I was amazed at a fact. It was American high school students looked more mature than us. I could not speak to them, because I didn’t know what I should talk, but they usually spoke to me. It was very happy for me. After that, we talked about each other and took pictures. In closing, it was very exciting memory for me to visit there.

Magnificent Grand Canyon
Finally, Grand Canyon was impressive for me. I was amazed these scenery. The reason is that I have never seen such magnificent landscapes. At the same time, I felt that I am very small existence in the world when I saw this landscapes, because Grand Canyon was huge. I have often watched this place on the TV in Japan, but I thought it was the best to look at the view up close. I felt warmth and beauty of the sun for the first time in a long time when I looked at sunrise. The sky and cloud gradually changed color of pink. It had been very hard to wake up at 4 o’clock and kept stand the place until sunrise, but I could be present at the great moment thanks to getting up early. I like sunrise better than sunset, because the moment of sunrise was really amazing. I took a lot of pictures with my friends in front of grand scenery while I stayed there. To sum up, those are the best memories for me during Southwest trip.

In conclusion, I’m glad that I could visit Santa Fe, Grand Canyon and the university of New Mexico. This trip gave me to the greatest pleasure. I definitely will bring my family to New Mexico. I thought I’d like to share this experience with my family. This trip was good opportunity for me to know about America more and more.

Fabulous Southwest Trip

The Southwest trip was absolutely amazing because I leaned the culture of the area a lot. I spent 7 days in the southwest and I impressed by people who live there and by their culture. These things were totally different from Japan and the people there preserved their traditions carefully. I talk to a lot of Americans and I saw wonderful nature during the trip. There are three absolutely wonderfu and amazing places that I enjoyed.     First, I went to a lot of museums and all of them were very interesting. I especially liked The Museum of International Folk Art. The museum has more than 130,000 objects from more than 100 countries! My favorite object was a smiling skeleton doll. This object’s theme was Day of The Dead. When I saw it, I remembered COCO which is a Pixar movie. I also liked The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Georgia O’Keeffe was an American artist and she painted a lot of flowers and nature. I think her paintings are brimming with kindness ...

Completely amazing trip

I had a good time visiting the Southwest USA with Extension students from 15 to 21, October. It was an education trip and I experienced new things and there was a lot of nature which is comfortable for me. I was looking forward to going on the Southwest trip for a long time. I have image that the Southwest is very hot but this place was cold than Spokane. It was interesting that the temperature was totally different in the same place. There were three emotions that I experienced on this trip. First, I was moved by the beautiful landscape of the Grand Canyon. It is absolutely enormous. When I look down the cliff, I remembered the teacher's caution for us that there are lots of people who die and I scared. I and my roommate wanted to see the sunrise so we tried to got up at 4:00 a.m. and then we could see the sunrise which was really fabulous. After that, we decided to rent a  bicycle but we changed our mind and because we had lots of time. Surprisingly, we walked 10 miles aro...

My Unbelievable Southwest Trip

I experienced a lot of amazing things for seven days with my absolutely wonderful teachers and friends from October 15-21 and learned a lot of Southwest culture, history, and nature. For example, we went to about 12 museums and facilities, such as the Pueblo Cultural Center, the University of Mexico, and some churches in New Mexico and Arizona. Therefore, I kept busy on the trip, but it became something I have never experienced because everything I saw was new to me. There are three things that especially impressed me. First, I was attracted to the buildings of New Mexico. These were really different from Spokane, Boston, or Washington D.C. For example, I went to Old Town in Albuquerque. Then I noticed that almost all the buildings were made of adobe. Adobe means mud brick in Spanish, so the buildings I saw were brown and some parts were air blue. I felt comfortable there. I also saw a plaza and a church which were adobe style buildings. The plaza is the most central part in Old T...
