My Great Adventures on Southwest Trip

My southwest trip was filled with new adventures. In this trip, I visited New Mexico and Arizona over one week. Many things were totally different from Spokane’s, for example foods, scenery and culture. I could realize how big America is. In addition, I learned about diversity of people and religions in America. That experience really shocked me and changed my way of thinking. I can remember the every memory of this trip and everything are so beautiful. I want to share my precious adventures of Southwest trip for everyone.

The delicious dinner in Albuquerque
First, I had a great dinner time in Albuquerque.I was very tired from long flight, but when I saw the old town Albuquerque, my tiredness was flied off. The color of houses made by adobe was sepia. That perfectly matched the clean blue sky. We had free time for our dinner. My friends and I walked around the city. There were many souvenir shops. The goods in the shop were very new to me. There were jewels, tiles, and spices made by local Native American artists. We stopped the Mexican restaurant to have dinner. Everyone did not know Mexican cuisine’s names, so we asked the waiter for his recommendations. We ordered guacamole salad, tacos, burritos and so on. The dishes were most delicious Mexican I had ever had.I was very happy to have a good dinner in the first day of this trip.

The pretty sunset in Santa Fe
Second, we spent 2 days downtown Santa Fe and I enjoyed learning about the culture of New Mexico through the day. That city was very modern, but the atmosphere of city was like the time was stopped at early days of New Mexico. Around the plaza, there were many Native American artists who sold their handmade accessories. I could buy cute earrings for my mother’s birthday present there. Also in downtown, there were a lot of historical place. I was especially moved by The Loretto Chapel and Saint Francis Cathedral. Both church had great history. I really liked their stained glasses, these were detailed and its colors were so elegant. In addition, downtown Santa Fe is very famous for art. We went to the museum of Georgia O’keeffe. All of her artworks were so powerful and appealing. I thought she was a woman of principle in her entire life. Her way of thinking really impressed me. Studying about strong woman always impressed me.

The amazing view from Yavapai point
Third, I had terrific times in the Grand Canyon for 2 days. The time I saw The Grand Canyon for the first time, I could not say anything. It was so huge and terrified me. I did not expected how great this is. My friends and I was so impressed by the nature, so we decided to cycle in The Grand Canyon on 2nd day. In the morning, we woke up early to see sunrise. The color’s change of Grand Canyon was so beautiful, the deep blue to pink and bright orange. After enjoying sunrise, we rented bicycles. It had been long while since I stopped riding my bicycle, so I was worried about my skill. But when I start riding it, the wind was so comfortable and my body moved easily. We cycled to West side of Grand Canyon. The road was not easy, but the best thing about cycling was that we could stop everywhere we want. Also, we could feel the nature directly by our eyes, ears, and bodies. I was always surprised by the every angles and views of canyon. I especially can not forget the view from the goal. After cycling all day, we went another spot to see sunset by bus. That cliff was pretty windy, but I felt the spot was very close to the sky. That moment sun going down was unforgettable. Everything I experienced in The Grand Canyon was so precious and memorable.

In conclusion, I really had great adventures in my Southwest trip from the first day to the last day. The foods in Albuquerque, the arts in Santa Fe and The scenery in The Grand Canyon, everything was new to me and was very impressive. Visiting historical place, meeting new people and trying new thing, all experiences were so fun and meaningful. This trip helps me to be more interested in various American culture. I want to continue to experience new stuff and study American histories.

Fabulous Southwest Trip

The Southwest trip was absolutely amazing because I leaned the culture of the area a lot. I spent 7 days in the southwest and I impressed by people who live there and by their culture. These things were totally different from Japan and the people there preserved their traditions carefully. I talk to a lot of Americans and I saw wonderful nature during the trip. There are three absolutely wonderfu and amazing places that I enjoyed.     First, I went to a lot of museums and all of them were very interesting. I especially liked The Museum of International Folk Art. The museum has more than 130,000 objects from more than 100 countries! My favorite object was a smiling skeleton doll. This object’s theme was Day of The Dead. When I saw it, I remembered COCO which is a Pixar movie. I also liked The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Georgia O’Keeffe was an American artist and she painted a lot of flowers and nature. I think her paintings are brimming with kindness ...

Completely amazing trip

I had a good time visiting the Southwest USA with Extension students from 15 to 21, October. It was an education trip and I experienced new things and there was a lot of nature which is comfortable for me. I was looking forward to going on the Southwest trip for a long time. I have image that the Southwest is very hot but this place was cold than Spokane. It was interesting that the temperature was totally different in the same place. There were three emotions that I experienced on this trip. First, I was moved by the beautiful landscape of the Grand Canyon. It is absolutely enormous. When I look down the cliff, I remembered the teacher's caution for us that there are lots of people who die and I scared. I and my roommate wanted to see the sunrise so we tried to got up at 4:00 a.m. and then we could see the sunrise which was really fabulous. After that, we decided to rent a  bicycle but we changed our mind and because we had lots of time. Surprisingly, we walked 10 miles aro...

My Unbelievable Southwest Trip

I experienced a lot of amazing things for seven days with my absolutely wonderful teachers and friends from October 15-21 and learned a lot of Southwest culture, history, and nature. For example, we went to about 12 museums and facilities, such as the Pueblo Cultural Center, the University of Mexico, and some churches in New Mexico and Arizona. Therefore, I kept busy on the trip, but it became something I have never experienced because everything I saw was new to me. There are three things that especially impressed me. First, I was attracted to the buildings of New Mexico. These were really different from Spokane, Boston, or Washington D.C. For example, I went to Old Town in Albuquerque. Then I noticed that almost all the buildings were made of adobe. Adobe means mud brick in Spanish, so the buildings I saw were brown and some parts were air blue. I felt comfortable there. I also saw a plaza and a church which were adobe style buildings. The plaza is the most central part in Old T...
