Japanese people wasted between 5 and 8 million tons of food in 2012, and 2 to 4 million tons came from individual households. Companies wasted between 3 and 4 million tons of food. Don’t you think it is one of the biggest problems to the environment? Recently Food Banks are becoming popular ways to reduce food waste among food companies. In addition, the Japanese government made a unique project to spread information about food waste and to reduce garbage. Many schools that have school lunches are also trying to reduce the food waste with interesting ways. In this presentation, the presenter will explain the present situations of food waste in Japan and some creative ways to reduce it.
