Many people like a buffet. If there were a
country like a buffet, wouldn’t it be nice? Actually, Japan is a buffet
country! Japan opened the country to the world about 160 years ago, and has
kept changing since then. Japan imports many things from overseas. People call
this globalization. Today many people in Japan eat foreign food, they wear
western clothes, and they use household items from outside of Japan. Items from
other countries have replaced Japanese traditional items. However, many
Japanese people still use the traditional tools in spite of globalization. In
this presentation, you will see some good examples of diversity in Japan by
comparing past and modern things such as food, fashion, and household items
influenced from overseas.
