Enjoyable Fair

This week on this Tuesday, september14th, all the MFWI students went to the Spokane County Interstate Fair. It was a first time to go to such an enjoyable American fair, so I was really excited and enjoyed it there. There were many different rides and games, and the atmosphere was interesting.
My Favorite Ride

First, I delighted in riding two different rides. One of them was spinning and swinging but really fun! It was not much scary, but I was excited with it. My friends and I screamed a lot and made us laugh. Another ride was just like roller coaster like for children, but it was not just children. The speed was not so fast, so it was easy. However the angle was little bit sharp, so it made us scared. I have never ridden such exciting rides, but they became my favorite rides.

Cute Prizes
Second, I spend over 50 dollars to play the arcade games which I really love to do. In fact, I am super bad to play them, so I cannot stop playing. I played two ring toss games. One was tossing for yellow ducks which were swimming, and other one was tossing small ring to small bottles. Both of them were really difficult, but I really wanted a big unicorn doll, so I kept trying to get it. Finally I got it, but it was out of charity from worker. It was really difficult, but there are no games such exciting game like them in japan, so I really enjoyed playing it even I could not get a unicorn by myself.
Beautiful at the Night

Finally, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the Spokane fair. It was much different from Japanese 'Matsuri' and absolutely awesome! People looked very excited when riding, playing and eating. I talked an American girl when I was playing the ring toss, and American guys said to us "Hi”. I was so glad of that because it is unusual in Japan. Also it was so bright and beautiful at the night, so I enjoyed seeing such a beautiful decorations. It was more colorful than Japanese, and I loved it.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed the fair with a lot of enjoyable things, and it was definitely great memory in this semester. I think I could experience and learn exciting part of America. Also I thought Japan has to hold such an enjoyable event.

Fabulous Southwest Trip

The Southwest trip was absolutely amazing because I leaned the culture of the area a lot. I spent 7 days in the southwest and I impressed by people who live there and by their culture. These things were totally different from Japan and the people there preserved their traditions carefully. I talk to a lot of Americans and I saw wonderful nature during the trip. There are three absolutely wonderfu and amazing places that I enjoyed.     First, I went to a lot of museums and all of them were very interesting. I especially liked The Museum of International Folk Art. The museum has more than 130,000 objects from more than 100 countries! My favorite object was a smiling skeleton doll. This object’s theme was Day of The Dead. When I saw it, I remembered COCO which is a Pixar movie. I also liked The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Georgia O’Keeffe was an American artist and she painted a lot of flowers and nature. I think her paintings are brimming with kindness ...

Respectable Voice of The Japanese American

Respectable Voice of The Japanese American Chisato Fujii             When I saw this poem, I felt strong feeling of this poet like “I am an American,” and I also felt this poet’s voice like “Why am I not treated as an American?” I’ve never lived in this period of world war Ⅱ , and of course, I’ve never experienced this suffering and war, but I could feel people’s voice of this period thanks to this poet. Without these Japanese Americans’ voices, I couldn’t feel and understand their feeling and thought. When I understand this poem’s meaning, this poem made me sad, but I also understood Japanese Americans were proud of themselves in the middle of the war. I respect them and am proud.

My Unbelievable Southwest Trip

I experienced a lot of amazing things for seven days with my absolutely wonderful teachers and friends from October 15-21 and learned a lot of Southwest culture, history, and nature. For example, we went to about 12 museums and facilities, such as the Pueblo Cultural Center, the University of Mexico, and some churches in New Mexico and Arizona. Therefore, I kept busy on the trip, but it became something I have never experienced because everything I saw was new to me. There are three things that especially impressed me. First, I was attracted to the buildings of New Mexico. These were really different from Spokane, Boston, or Washington D.C. For example, I went to Old Town in Albuquerque. Then I noticed that almost all the buildings were made of adobe. Adobe means mud brick in Spanish, so the buildings I saw were brown and some parts were air blue. I felt comfortable there. I also saw a plaza and a church which were adobe style buildings. The plaza is the most central part in Old T...
