The time that I spent in America is quickly passing. I had a great time with many people so far in classes and out of classes. Today, I have two points of a fundamental principal for my American life. They are my treasures that I focused on faithfully.
First of all, I got special experiences through the Language Culture Day (LCD) class. Once a week, we had a opportunity to discuss each topics we chose with guests who have some connection with their topics. Such as gun control, international marriage, volunteerism, and so on. I was particularly interested in the topic "teenage dieting and body image", and I had a great time to discuss the topic with wonderful guests. Until that LCD class, I was very worried about gaining weight in America because when I was in Japan, I was on a strict diet that I didn't eat anything for 2 months. I had not noticed that I was standing on a start line of eating disorders. From that talk with guests who have experienced anorexia and bulimia, I realized that stressful dieting makes me unhealthy mentally and physically. It was a big step to change my mind about correct dieting. All of LCD class were totally valuable opportunities for me. I talked with many native English speakers and learned a lot of cultural differences from them. Their experiences lead me to various interests.
Secondly, I have a marvelous host family in Spokane. The home-stay was one of my main reasons to decided to come back to America, because I wanted to see them again very much. Through the last semester, they gave us a lot of precious experiences such as riding a house, making potteries, cooking Mexican food, and visiting many kinds of restaurants and shops. I took delight all of the activities with them every weekend. In this semester, they always care about our study and encourage us because our life rhythms are totally different from the last semester. I really feel that I am supported and motivated by them. Going on a home-stay is a wonderful opportunity to feel real American life and understand American cultures. My host family is also curious about Japanese life style or Japanese cultures. So, we can share them each other and enjoy the conversation. I'm really glad to be their host daughter. Now, my big goal is to show my appreciation for them with a success of my presentation.
In conclusion, I'm leading a fabulous life here. In the time remaining until the end of this semester, I want to enjoy everything with fascinating EXT member, teachers, and host family. And also I wanna get new cultural observations, new vocabularies, and new opportunities to talk with new people. For achieving it, I'll try to be a more active students from now on.
