Happy halloween |
First, I had a Halloween party at MFWI. I was wear maid costume and I did face paint of cat. Some people did face paint. Most of their face paint ware scealy or grotesk paints and also it was high- quality.I recommend one of them face paint. She have gipper on her face and her bottom of face was red it looks like blood. It was so grotesque but have a reality. I interest in Jack-o-lantern and unique costumes, for example TED,Teletubbies, and terrified Disney princes. In Japan, I had never made Jack-o-lantern because Japanese pumpkin is totally different from America, for example color, shape and hardness. And also I had never seen a lot of kind of costumes. I think Halloween was not Japanese holiday so still now, most people especially elderly people don't were costumes so we don't have a lot of kind of costumes.
Next, Extension students did flash mob in dance foll of commons. Song was “Under the sea” of the little mermaid. It was really funny and great opportunity because it was second time make one thing by cooperated with all Extension students. We have a lot of schedule so combined exercise was so difficult and also we had to secret from other people. We enjoying dance and got a sense of achievement.
Finally, I went to trick or treat with my host family and host family’s neighborhoods. Children were dressed in costumes and they had big box of pumpkin. It was so cute. Children run to many neighborhood houses and said “Trick or treat!” All neighborhood people open the door and gave to candy for children. I was really stunning because if it was in Japan, most of Japanese people thought stranger came home so they didn't open their door. It is our culture. When someone come home, we use camera of intercom and check their face. If we don't know them, we don't open our house’s door. I think American Halloween make special memory to children so I want Japanese Halloween change more interesting like American Halloween.
In conclusion, I had a wonderful experience about American Halloween. When I go back to Japan, I will tell this experience for my niece and then I try to change our Halloween culture.
