How Wonderful The Portland Trip Is

Through this Portland Trip, I learned a lot of thing. That were precious experiences for me.  I prefer this town to Seattle because I was in love with the neat rows of streets and beautiful buildings. Today, I'm writing about three things in which I'm interested. It is Mcloughlin House, Portland Saturday Market and volleyball game. Those things were wonderful memory for me.

First of all, there are incredible truths in Mcloughlin House. That was because people used only one horse to move this house to its present location, fifty beavers were used for one hut and a chamber pot was had as a toilet. First, while the house was moved, the horse walked around a circle. At first I thought it was impossible to do that, because a house is very heavy, however people used capstan. That's why it was possible to move a house. Next, per one huts fifty beavers were needed, it costs about 10,000 dollars. I knew how rich he was. When I touched this huts, I felt good. Finally, a chamber pot was used only at night, because the bathroom was in outside, also it was very cold, so his family couldn't go there at night. In this way, they used it. Those things were very interesting to me. Through those things, I noticed how smart people are, and also I acquired new ideas because I didn't know that before I went there.

Next, a volleyball game was a little remarkable, but it was extremely exciting to me. That was because I was in the volleyball club when I was a high school student. I really like watching this game, whereas, the game rules and culture were a little different. During the game, when the ball reached the ceiling, usually, the enemy team can get the point in Japan. On the other hand, this game didn't care about that. It was my first surprise. Moreover, one of the coaches wore high heels, and she played volleyball. In Japan, we couldn't in the volleyball coat wear such shoes. I felt culture shock, but the spectators were very enthusiastic, and also the break time from the game, there were some fun activities such dance, so I could enjoy watching them and the game was a close game. Thus I learned that an American volleyball game was fun. I will share this information with my volleyball term of members.

Finally, I couldn't believe that goods at the Portland Saturday Market were all handmade. That was because the quality was high level such bags, glasses, dishes and toys. Some of them are reused, but it didn't look like that. A most favorite shop is a quilt shop. There were many slippers made by quilting, looked very warm and valuable. Although I wanted to buy them, I couldn't buy them because of money. In fact, if they were in Japan, it must have been more expensive. Through this market, I realized that handmade are more special and unique. In addition, I can talk with friendly sellers about the goods. I learned the benefit of handmade. It was my first realization.

In conclusion, as you can see, my three of main topic have great benefits to learn a lot of things. I will not forget learning about that. I want to go there again if I have a chance.

Unforgettable Southwest Trip

I went on a totally amazing Southwest trip with my classmates. The trip was my first time to go to the Southwest so everything was new to me. Sarah, Anikke and Bethany came with us. They made our trip more exciting. I’m happy I could go on this trip with them and I had a lot of great experiences. First, I really enjoyed New Mexico. It was chilly but not too cold. I went to the Old Town in  Albuquerque, New Mexico. I liked the Old Town because there are many cute things and good restaurants in there. For example, I found a gate that was decorated with a lot of red chili peppers. I had never seen anything like that before so I was very surprised and it looked like a lot of flowers from a distance. The red chili peppers were absolutely gorgeous. Not only that, I found a great restaurant. I forgot the name of the restaurant but they have really delicious Mexican food. They gave me some Mexican chips for free and recommended that I eat the chips with honey. I really like Mexican ...

Fabulous Southwest Trip

The Southwest trip was absolutely amazing because I leaned the culture of the area a lot. I spent 7 days in the southwest and I impressed by people who live there and by their culture. These things were totally different from Japan and the people there preserved their traditions carefully. I talk to a lot of Americans and I saw wonderful nature during the trip. There are three absolutely wonderfu and amazing places that I enjoyed.     First, I went to a lot of museums and all of them were very interesting. I especially liked The Museum of International Folk Art. The museum has more than 130,000 objects from more than 100 countries! My favorite object was a smiling skeleton doll. This object’s theme was Day of The Dead. When I saw it, I remembered COCO which is a Pixar movie. I also liked The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Georgia O’Keeffe was an American artist and she painted a lot of flowers and nature. I think her paintings are brimming with kindness ...

Completely amazing trip

I had a good time visiting the Southwest USA with Extension students from 15 to 21, October. It was an education trip and I experienced new things and there was a lot of nature which is comfortable for me. I was looking forward to going on the Southwest trip for a long time. I have image that the Southwest is very hot but this place was cold than Spokane. It was interesting that the temperature was totally different in the same place. There were three emotions that I experienced on this trip. First, I was moved by the beautiful landscape of the Grand Canyon. It is absolutely enormous. When I look down the cliff, I remembered the teacher's caution for us that there are lots of people who die and I scared. I and my roommate wanted to see the sunrise so we tried to got up at 4:00 a.m. and then we could see the sunrise which was really fabulous. After that, we decided to rent a  bicycle but we changed our mind and because we had lots of time. Surprisingly, we walked 10 miles aro...
