We went on a Southwest trip from October 14 to 19. We flew from Spokane to New Mexico, and then went to Arizona by bus from New Mexico. I had a delightful experience and an awesome time there. There were a lot of marvelous things that I didn't know and I've never experienced before. I was amazed by worthy culture, magnificent nature, and wonderful encounter through this trip.
First, I came in touch with a lot of cultural things such as history, art, and traditional entertainment. In New Mexico, we visited Acoma Pueblo which is a village at the top of the high sandstone, and I learned about the history of Native Americans. They built the sand brick houses which are called "Adobe", and some of the Native Americans are still living there. I was surprised they are living there without water pipes, electricity, and gas. Also, they were selling some accessories or apricot pies in the village. The kind husband and wife who were taking a tour in this village bought the pie and gave a piece of it to me, and it was so good. Then, we visited Acoma High School in New Mexico. The students performed their traditional dance with singing. It was my first time to see such dancing, and I felt it was cool. I was so glad to learn about their culture and I admired they still treasure their culture. All of these things were very informative and interesting to me.
Second, we went to Grand Canyon, and that became one of my best memories in my life. It is needless to say that Grand Canyon is so huge, beautiful, and spiritual. We could see the Grand Canyon from one end to another while taking free shuttle buses and riding a bicycle. We saw amazing scenery and felt cozy wind while riding a bicycle, and that was extremely fabulous. Also, we could see the marvelous sunrise and sunset there, and they changed my way of thinking to a positive way. This was absolutely great experience for me, and I want to go there again in the future. I felt it was 100% natural that the Grand Canyon is a treasure of the earth.
Finally, I’m really thankful for people who I encountered on this trip. Me and My friends met an old man and woman at the Wupatki National Monument in Arizona, and talked with them. Then, we met them again at the Grand Canyon. That was tremendous destiny, and I was happy they remembered us and that we talked a lot with them. Also, another man who we met at the Grand Canyon showed amusing trick to us with using coins. He made our day at that time, and I was glad he talked to us in a friendly manner. I felt meeting and talking with people is precious, and I want to treasure every meeting as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
To sum up, this trip was terrific and taught me a lot of awesome things. I think I’m so lucky to experience such a wonderful thing, and I’m really thankful to everyone who supported and let me have so much fun on this trip.
