Incredible Experience of Portland Trip

Do you like taking a trip? Taking a trip is very good for us. Many people take a trip to refresh. In addition, we can learn many things such as culture, and language from trips. Therefore, more and more people take a trip. I traveled to Portland with Extension students, and teacheres. I had a very good time because of many reasons.

First, we can refresh by taking a trip. Although I had many stresses, I could refresh during the Portland trip. We went to Multnomah Fall. This waterfall is very big and famous. We couldn’t see like this waterfall in Japan, so I saw a very big fall for the first time. The sound of this waterfall makes us relax. I understood many people visit this waterfall every year. Furthermore, many things in Portland are cheaper than in Spokane because we don’t need to pay sales tax in Portland. We don’t need to take care about money a lot, so we could buy many things we wanted. In addition, we could eat delicious food. We went to some famous restaurants such as “Tebo's Restaurant”, and “Flying Pie Pizzeria”. Eating food is important for us, so I was happy because these restaurant’s foods was very nice. Therefore, I could refresh because of taking a trip.

Second, we can learn about the U.S. such as culture and language from trip. We talked with a university student at Columbia Basin College. Then he is energetic and talkative, so he speaks English fast. I couldn’t understand what they said, and I couldn’t say to him anything because he talked a lot. It’s my regret. I’m shy, so I hardly speak English positively. However, I know it is bad for me, so I learned the difficulty of English. Furthermore, when I went shopping, I wanted to buy a brown wallet, but then I couldn’t find it. I really wanted to buy it, so I decided to order it. Although it took a long time to do that because my English is not so good, I could do that. I was very happy to tell the shop clerk. Then, I learned the importance of English. Also, I went to Saturday market. We can buy handmade works there. There are pictures, plants, accessories, and so on at Saturday market and most of them are very colorful. There are similar market things in Japan and we can buy handmade works, but they are not so colorful. Japanese people like simple, so we can’t find like these colorful things in Japan, I think. It is cultural difference. I could learn about English and cultural differences from this trip.

Finally, we can learn many important things during trip. I had an opportunity to go shopping many times in Portland trip, so I was very happy. However, I had a problem. That’s because my money is limited. I had only cash and travelers check, so I can’t pay too much money. During this trip, I had to give up buying some souvenirs because I didn’t have enough money. I regret to waste money before this trip. I learned about that how to use money. Moreover, I learned kindness of people because my birthday was during this trip. Everyone celebrated my birthday. I was surprised because I thought everyone forgot my birthday. My host father called me and sang a birthday song. After that everyone said to me “Happy Birthday!”, and then teacher gave me birthday present. This is my best memory in this semester because I felt kindness of people. I appreciate everyone. Also, I learned importance of family. I became 20 years old. It means I became an adult in Japan. I can drink alcohol, and I can vote. Now, I’m not a child. My parent has raised me for 20 years and they paid a lot of money. If they had not paid money to come America again, I couldn’t have experienced this trip. The reason I enjoyed this trip is also because of my parent. I really appreciate my parent.

I had a very good time because I experienced many things. For example, I learned American culture, importance of money and importance of my family. If I hadn’t taken a trip, I wouldn’t have experienced anything. Therefore, I’m glad to go to Portland, and I want to travel to somewhere.

Fabulous Southwest Trip

The Southwest trip was absolutely amazing because I leaned the culture of the area a lot. I spent 7 days in the southwest and I impressed by people who live there and by their culture. These things were totally different from Japan and the people there preserved their traditions carefully. I talk to a lot of Americans and I saw wonderful nature during the trip. There are three absolutely wonderfu and amazing places that I enjoyed.     First, I went to a lot of museums and all of them were very interesting. I especially liked The Museum of International Folk Art. The museum has more than 130,000 objects from more than 100 countries! My favorite object was a smiling skeleton doll. This object’s theme was Day of The Dead. When I saw it, I remembered COCO which is a Pixar movie. I also liked The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Georgia O’Keeffe was an American artist and she painted a lot of flowers and nature. I think her paintings are brimming with kindness ...

Completely amazing trip

I had a good time visiting the Southwest USA with Extension students from 15 to 21, October. It was an education trip and I experienced new things and there was a lot of nature which is comfortable for me. I was looking forward to going on the Southwest trip for a long time. I have image that the Southwest is very hot but this place was cold than Spokane. It was interesting that the temperature was totally different in the same place. There were three emotions that I experienced on this trip. First, I was moved by the beautiful landscape of the Grand Canyon. It is absolutely enormous. When I look down the cliff, I remembered the teacher's caution for us that there are lots of people who die and I scared. I and my roommate wanted to see the sunrise so we tried to got up at 4:00 a.m. and then we could see the sunrise which was really fabulous. After that, we decided to rent a  bicycle but we changed our mind and because we had lots of time. Surprisingly, we walked 10 miles aro...

My Unbelievable Southwest Trip

I experienced a lot of amazing things for seven days with my absolutely wonderful teachers and friends from October 15-21 and learned a lot of Southwest culture, history, and nature. For example, we went to about 12 museums and facilities, such as the Pueblo Cultural Center, the University of Mexico, and some churches in New Mexico and Arizona. Therefore, I kept busy on the trip, but it became something I have never experienced because everything I saw was new to me. There are three things that especially impressed me. First, I was attracted to the buildings of New Mexico. These were really different from Spokane, Boston, or Washington D.C. For example, I went to Old Town in Albuquerque. Then I noticed that almost all the buildings were made of adobe. Adobe means mud brick in Spanish, so the buildings I saw were brown and some parts were air blue. I felt comfortable there. I also saw a plaza and a church which were adobe style buildings. The plaza is the most central part in Old T...
