Time is Money

This weekend, I stayed at my roommate’s host family’s house. I met them in the first time. I was super nervous before I met them but they were very kind and they warmly welcomed me to their house. There were 4 people in their family. I spent time with them and I could realize that spending time with family is the most valuable in the world.

On Saturday, it was awesome weather and we went to Coeur d' Alene to ride the boat. When I went outside, I was surprised. It’s because I found a boat in front of the house. I couldn’t believe this situation because I haven’t ever seen boat in front of the house. To ride the boat was a first time for me. Coeur d' Alene was busy by families. I could see a lot of families. They played water sports and hiked with their families. It seemed they enjoyed spending time with their family. I also enjoyed riding a boat. One more thing, Saturday night, my roommate’s host father and daughter sat on the chair and talked in their garden. They communicated with each other and spent a lot of time together. After that, my roommate and I joined the conversation.

I think to spend a time with family is very important. I looked for my memories which I did with my family on weekend. When I was young, I went to a lot of places such as beach, mountain and amusement park on weekends. However, I recently don’t go any place with my family on weekends. When I was a junior high school student, I didn’t like my family. I didn’t have any special reason and I didn’t go any place with my family. However, I realized how family is important and now I love my family. I am proud of them but on weekends, I spend almost all my time with my friends or I work a whole weekend. I regretted that I didn’t spend enough time with my family. I think I should make time to spend with my family when I come back to Japan.

Through this home stay, I reconfirmed family bonds were a great thing. Family style is different from each family. Of course, there are many differences between Japanese families and American families. There is no collection family style, I think. Family is interesting, amazing and wonderful. I’m looking forward to making my new family. I decided to make time with my family and future’s my family too. Family is valuable and there is nothing more important than family in the world. I think we can’t replace family anything else.

Unforgettable Southwest Trip

I went on a totally amazing Southwest trip with my classmates. The trip was my first time to go to the Southwest so everything was new to me. Sarah, Anikke and Bethany came with us. They made our trip more exciting. I’m happy I could go on this trip with them and I had a lot of great experiences. First, I really enjoyed New Mexico. It was chilly but not too cold. I went to the Old Town in  Albuquerque, New Mexico. I liked the Old Town because there are many cute things and good restaurants in there. For example, I found a gate that was decorated with a lot of red chili peppers. I had never seen anything like that before so I was very surprised and it looked like a lot of flowers from a distance. Fabulous Southwest Trip

    The Southwest trip was absolutely amazing because I leaned the culture of the area a lot. I spent 7 days in the southwest and I impressed by people who live there and by their culture. These things were totally different from Japan and the people there preserved their traditions carefully. I talk to a lot of Americans and I saw wonderful nature during the trip. There are three absolutely wonderfu and amazing places that I enjoyed.     First, I went to a lot of museums and all of them were very interesting. I especially liked The Museum of International Folk Art. The museum has more than 130,000 objects from more than 100 countries! My favorite object was a smiling skeleton doll. This object’s theme was Day of The Dead. When I saw it, I remembered COCO which is a Pixar movie. I also liked The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Completely amazing trip

I had a good time visiting the Southwest USA with Extension students from 15 to 21, October. It was an education trip and I experienced new things and there was a lot of nature which is comfortable for me. I was looking forward to going on the Southwest trip for a long time. I have image that the Southwest is very hot but this place was cold than Spokane. It was interesting that the temperature was totally different in the same place. There were three emotions that I experienced on this trip. First, I was moved by the beautiful landscape of the Grand Canyon. It is absolutely enormous. When I look down the cliff, I remembered the teacher's caution for us that there are lots of people who die and I scared. I and my roommate wanted to see the sunrise so we tried to got up at 4:00 a.m. and then we could see the sunrise which was really fabulous.
