Magnificent Southwest Trip

Southwest trip gave me a lot of valuable experiences. I will never forget those experiences in my life. I could develop not only English skills but also my personality through this trip. There were five marvelous experiences that I experienced.

Source: coquese.blogspot
First during on this southwest trip I could hear many different languages such as Native American languages, French and Spanish. I surrounded by different languages. To hear the Native American language was first time for me so it was interesting experience. I couldn’t understand these languages, but some word’s pronunciations are similar to Korean. Therefore I was very surprised. Some Native American ancestors are Asian, so it is possible that their languages are similar to Korean. Also I heard some different accent English such as Native American English accent, Spanish English accent. These were sometimes difficult to understand even same English. However it was challenging for me because I have never heard such English accent. Spanish accent of English was the most difficult for me to catch it. The woman who was housekeeper had a Spanish English accent, so I couldn’t understand what she said. It was the same English but I felt totally different language. I felt how diverse America was and I wanted to hear a lot of different English accent because it was fun. If I had not gone to the Southwest trip I couldn’t have felt such thing. Therefore those experiences were told me how interesting different languages were.

Historical Pueblo Indian's Church
Second I felt how influential country Spanish was. There were some reasons why I thought that. When I went to many churches, I could see a part of southwest history. Southwest has a strong connection with catholic religion because of Spanish control. Native American had to change their own religion so their religion was mixed. The most interesting church was the San Miguel Mission because this church architecture was adobe. This church showed us mixed countries religion such as catholic and Pueblo Indian’s. The church was mostly burned down during Pueblo Revolt but when they rebuilt it, they using same walls because this church included some Indian’s corpses. Second there are lots of Spanish letter in southwest because Spain demanded to use Spanish during Spain’s control. It was difficult for Pueblo Indian’s to live in this period. I hope humans never repeat same thing such as a war and the colonial period. Spanish powerful control told me tragic history.

Admirable Native American and Us
Third I could learn a lot of things about Native Americans. They have five different languages such as Tiwa, Towa, Tewa, Kares and Zuni. The Zuni language related to Japanese so I wanted to learn more about Zuni Indian language. Indians have strong connection with potteries and all of them have different meaning. For example one of the pottery called by wedding jar; the pottery have two taps and new wedding couple something to drink from each taps. This culture has still continuing. How difficult to keep those traditions and protect Pueblo Indian culture is. From this trip I really want to know about Native American.

Forth I went to many museums and it told me another point of view, especially Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Her painting was awesome because her motif was different to other person. For example she drew a picture of animal’s bone with flower. I had never seen such a strange painting but I was so impressed. The shape was a beautiful and color was a vivid. I don’t know why she drew a painting with those exact opposite things together. However my guess was it showed us life and death. The flower was a symbol of a life and bone was a symbol of a death. Some painting was much difficult to know the exact meaning but I really enjoyed this museum. Her painting told me that sometimes to see same things from another point of view was important. It means a different visual field was sometimes important for me to settle problem. It was really useful idea for me.

Amazing Grand Canyon and Me
Finally I went to Grand Canyon and it told me how I should be. We spent a rich time at Grand Canyon. For example our group members took the movie to 10 years later. We excited our future and we decided to try hard for our happiest future. I could see an amazing sunrise, sunset and beautiful night sky. It was difficult to explain about the Grand Canyon because there were no fitting words for the Grand Canyon. During this time I thought about my life such the past, now and the future. When I think deeply about myself, I realized how wonderful my life is. I must appreciate that I could have such a fantastic time with my friends and teachers. The Grand Canyon told me not only fabulous scenery but also myself. There were necessary for us to develop us.

As you can see southwest trip gave precious experiences. It reminded me about my future, the purpose of this semester and my goals. I found my personality and how should be spend a left time in the U.S. I had an absolutely splendid time on this trip.

My Valuable Southwest Trip

Last week, we took a trip to the Southwest for 7 days. This trip was an absolutely wonderful memory. I had never been to these areas so I was stimulated by every things, for example, cactus, adobe style buildings, Native American culture and amazing dessert views. It is one of the most interesting trips I ever took, because I experienced some rare things like visiting Grand Canyon, visiting high school and so on. On this trip I could understand about Indian culture from a folk art museum. I would like to introduce some my best memories on this Southwest trip. My first best memory is Georgia O’Keef museum. Actually, before this trip, I was not familiar with her and didn’t know about any of her artworks, but I was looking forward to visiting here because I like art museums. Her artworks were very unique, abstract and absolutely fabulous, and these were very fresh to me. I especially liked bone’s paintings which one of the most famous her artwork, because the color contrast is very c...

Unforgettable Southwest Trip

I went on a totally amazing Southwest trip with my classmates. The trip was my first time to go to the Southwest so everything was new to me. Sarah, Anikke and Bethany came with us. They made our trip more exciting. I’m happy I could go on this trip with them and I had a lot of great experiences. First, I really enjoyed New Mexico. It was chilly but not too cold. I went to the Old Town in  Albuquerque, New Mexico. I liked the Old Town because there are many cute things and good restaurants in there. For example, I found a gate that was decorated with a lot of red chili peppers. I had never seen anything like that before so I was very surprised and it looked like a lot of flowers from a distance. The red chili peppers were absolutely gorgeous. Not only that, I found a great restaurant. I forgot the name of the restaurant but they have really delicious Mexican food. They gave me some Mexican chips for free and recommended that I eat the chips with honey. I really like Mexican ...

Completely amazing trip

I had a good time visiting the Southwest USA with Extension students from 15 to 21, October. It was an education trip and I experienced new things and there was a lot of nature which is comfortable for me. I was looking forward to going on the Southwest trip for a long time. I have image that the Southwest is very hot but this place was cold than Spokane. It was interesting that the temperature was totally different in the same place. There were three emotions that I experienced on this trip. First, I was moved by the beautiful landscape of the Grand Canyon. It is absolutely enormous. When I look down the cliff, I remembered the teacher's caution for us that there are lots of people who die and I scared. I and my roommate wanted to see the sunrise so we tried to got up at 4:00 a.m. and then we could see the sunrise which was really fabulous. After that, we decided to rent a  bicycle but we changed our mind and because we had lots of time. Surprisingly, we walked 10 miles aro...
