Bonjour!! My new life!!

Source:plaza.rakuten.co.jp
About 1 week has passed since our classes began. During this week, I have learned a lot of things such as Linguistics or American West and I could find new things especially in French class. Although I had taken French class at MWU, I was so excited to take a class in English!! I was worried about it, but it’s so cool!! Through the French class, I could find new perspective such as Japanese educational system today, and my recommendations for how language should be taught in Japan. This new learning style gave me many things would expand my way of thinking about leaning languages. The first day, I was surprised at Jill had already spoken only French at the beginning of the class. I was a little confused, but I could get used to it. As Jill said, listening and imitating the words or phrases like children is the most effective way to learn a language. Because we did that, we can speak our own Language now! However, I thought the most effective way to learn English was to write and remember the sentences or vocabulary at my desk. I couldn’t remember anything and I was irritated with myself so couldn’t study English effectively. I think it’s because of the way we learn to English in school in Japan. I’ve heard the way to study English in school has not changed since Meiji times. In addition, the way is for not to learn English totally because people in the Japanese government wanted us to remain more Japanese, or they were afraid of losing Japanese as we study English. It’s very interesting for me, but we need to change the way actually. That’s why most Japanese leaners doubt that just listening and imitating are the best way to learn Language because our traditional style of learning English has been in Japanese brains since the Meiji times . Therefore I could make sure that my best way to learn English is like in Jill’s French class. I would like to do that very hard and expand my global view.

Unforgettable Southwest Trip

I went on a totally amazing Southwest trip with my classmates. The trip was my first time to go to the Southwest so everything was new to me. Sarah, Anikke and Bethany came with us. They made our trip more exciting. I’m happy I could go on this trip with them and I had a lot of great experiences. First, I really enjoyed New Mexico. It was chilly but not too cold. I went to the Old Town in  Albuquerque, New Mexico. I liked the Old Town because there are many cute things and good restaurants in there. For example, I found a gate that was decorated with a lot of red chili peppers. I had never seen anything like that before so I was very surprised and it looked like a lot of flowers from a distance. The red chili peppers were absolutely gorgeous. Not only that, I found a great restaurant. I forgot the name of the restaurant but they have really delicious Mexican food. They gave me some Mexican chips for free and recommended that I eat the chips with honey. I really like Mexican ...

Fabulous Southwest Trip

The Southwest trip was absolutely amazing because I leaned the culture of the area a lot. I spent 7 days in the southwest and I impressed by people who live there and by their culture. These things were totally different from Japan and the people there preserved their traditions carefully. I talk to a lot of Americans and I saw wonderful nature during the trip. There are three absolutely wonderfu and amazing places that I enjoyed.     First, I went to a lot of museums and all of them were very interesting. I especially liked The Museum of International Folk Art. The museum has more than 130,000 objects from more than 100 countries! My favorite object was a smiling skeleton doll. This object’s theme was Day of The Dead. When I saw it, I remembered COCO which is a Pixar movie. I also liked The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Georgia O’Keeffe was an American artist and she painted a lot of flowers and nature. I think her paintings are brimming with kindness ...

Completely amazing trip

I had a good time visiting the Southwest USA with Extension students from 15 to 21, October. It was an education trip and I experienced new things and there was a lot of nature which is comfortable for me. I was looking forward to going on the Southwest trip for a long time. I have image that the Southwest is very hot but this place was cold than Spokane. It was interesting that the temperature was totally different in the same place. There were three emotions that I experienced on this trip. First, I was moved by the beautiful landscape of the Grand Canyon. It is absolutely enormous. When I look down the cliff, I remembered the teacher's caution for us that there are lots of people who die and I scared. I and my roommate wanted to see the sunrise so we tried to got up at 4:00 a.m. and then we could see the sunrise which was really fabulous. After that, we decided to rent a  bicycle but we changed our mind and because we had lots of time. Surprisingly, we walked 10 miles aro...
