Be Ambitious

An occupation of the teacher is my very admirable dream. Last Friday, I had experienced hardship as a leader in Reading class, because my partner and I did the lecture during the class instead of the teacher. However, this experience will certainly be useful for my dream.  Working to realize my dream, we will be able to experience valuable things which are not only visible but also invisible. What does teacher expect from us during class? I think that being leader is a kind of trial, and it is teachers' expectation. I guess a leader is also a teacher. My partner, Yuki and I were fully conscious of our responsibility as Reading leaders. I especially learned the important invisible things as a teacher.

First, I found that changing my position from student to teacher was really harder than I expected. When I stood in front of the students, I could not help feeling fear and anxiety. My brain did not work like I thought because of mixed feeling. I had to lead the students while thinking about the next thing. It was completely difficult for me to do it. I know that it was OK to make mistakes because I am not a professor. I am just the student, however, I wanted to try to push myself to do it. Yuki and I often made mistakes, and we could not do time management well. Nevertheless, my teacher did not help us at all during the class. I appreciate my teacher though because we were able to try hard without the teacher's help, and we found the good way to lead the students.

Second, I realized, in fact, the teacher is helped by students in the class. Without the students' expression, it would be exhausting for teachers to do a lesson. When I took the role, it made me realized keenly. I do not have much confidence to be a teacher yet, however, every students supported us, and they relied on us. I had never had a feeling like this before, especially, about my friends. I seldom rely on my friends because it is a little shameful for me to do so. I like to be relied on by my friends though. I realized that volunteering is absolutely meaningful for teacher. Then, I would have shocked if no one answer my questions. Through the experience as reading leader, I think supporting each other is invisible and visible.

Third, I recognized that the teacher has tons of things to do before class begins. We had to prepare for the class, and it was very hard for me to do it harder than I expected. We prepared lesson plan, quiz, new vocabulary, comprehension activity, discussion questions, a creative activity, and summary. I did not know that the teacher always thinks about the class and the next one. I extremely respect the teachers at MFWI. They see us always, and they notice our changes. American education and Japanese education are absolutely different. Moreover, I think American education is better than Japanese education. If my dream comes true, I want to incorporate the American education in Japan. I think that perfect preparation will make magnificent class.

As you can see, trying to think about being a leader from a different point of view as a teacher and as a student can help you discover new mind. The role of being leader became great opportunity for me and my dream.

My Valuable Southwest Trip

Last week, we took a trip to the Southwest for 7 days. This trip was an absolutely wonderful memory. I had never been to these areas so I was stimulated by every things, for example, cactus, adobe style buildings, Native American culture and amazing dessert views. It is one of the most interesting trips I ever took, because I experienced some rare things like visiting Grand Canyon, visiting high school and so on. On this trip I could understand about Indian culture from a folk art museum. I would like to introduce some my best memories on this Southwest trip. My first best memory is Georgia O’Keef museum. Actually, before this trip, I was not familiar with her and didn’t know about any of her artworks, but I was looking forward to visiting here because I like art museums. Her artworks were very unique, abstract and absolutely fabulous, and these were very fresh to me. I especially liked bone’s paintings which one of the most famous her artwork, because the color contrast is very c...

Unforgettable Southwest Trip

I went on a totally amazing Southwest trip with my classmates. The trip was my first time to go to the Southwest so everything was new to me. Sarah, Anikke and Bethany came with us. They made our trip more exciting. I’m happy I could go on this trip with them and I had a lot of great experiences. First, I really enjoyed New Mexico. It was chilly but not too cold. I went to the Old Town in  Albuquerque, New Mexico. I liked the Old Town because there are many cute things and good restaurants in there. For example, I found a gate that was decorated with a lot of red chili peppers. I had never seen anything like that before so I was very surprised and it looked like a lot of flowers from a distance. The red chili peppers were absolutely gorgeous. Not only that, I found a great restaurant. I forgot the name of the restaurant but they have really delicious Mexican food. They gave me some Mexican chips for free and recommended that I eat the chips with honey. I really like Mexican ...

Completely amazing trip

I had a good time visiting the Southwest USA with Extension students from 15 to 21, October. It was an education trip and I experienced new things and there was a lot of nature which is comfortable for me. I was looking forward to going on the Southwest trip for a long time. I have image that the Southwest is very hot but this place was cold than Spokane. It was interesting that the temperature was totally different in the same place. There were three emotions that I experienced on this trip. First, I was moved by the beautiful landscape of the Grand Canyon. It is absolutely enormous. When I look down the cliff, I remembered the teacher's caution for us that there are lots of people who die and I scared. I and my roommate wanted to see the sunrise so we tried to got up at 4:00 a.m. and then we could see the sunrise which was really fabulous. After that, we decided to rent a  bicycle but we changed our mind and because we had lots of time. Surprisingly, we walked 10 miles aro...
