Energetic dancing

My Wonderful Extension Dancing Members
They are fantastic dancers forever! I belong to the soran-bushi team at MFWI, and I'm the leader. Our group did special traditional Japanese dance at Valleyfest about a week ago. Why did I join the soran-bushi dancing team? I have two reasons I joined. First, I will spend a great time with my teammates in the team. My team's 90% Junior Collage students. They are quick to understand how to dance soran-bushi. Almost all team members are experienced dancers since they were young. It is easy to me to show them how to dance. They have a high motivation soran-bushi. Soran-bushi has a lot of lively movements. However, my team members don't complain about being able to dance anymore. In my case, first day of soran-bushi dancing practice was terrible when I learned about it from my friend in last semester. I couldn't do lively movements, and I also could't use my brain, because it is very difficult for me to understand how to dance choreographicly. However, my team can do it , and they can dance everything well. I'm very excited about performing soran-bushi in front of people at Valleyfest. Second, I also learn how to lead people. My first impression of my leadership it was tricky!!!!! It is difficult to show how to teach soran-bushi choreography to my team, because they have a own sensitivity for dancing. However, If I felt that there are a few disagreeable points in their dancing, I have to fix what they should do. In my case, I'm a kind of strict person when I'm leader of team or club, because I'm in a responsible position on the team now. I know that I don't have to say strongly, because some people feel uncomfortable. However, I sometimes do it. I'm still learning how to control people when I want to them do something. I'm having a wonderful time with them, and I can't wait to perform in front of a lot of people at Valleyfest.

Fabulous Southwest Trip

The Southwest trip was absolutely amazing because I leaned the culture of the area a lot. I spent 7 days in the southwest and I impressed by people who live there and by their culture. These things were totally different from Japan and the people there preserved their traditions carefully. I talk to a lot of Americans and I saw wonderful nature during the trip. There are three absolutely wonderfu and amazing places that I enjoyed.     First, I went to a lot of museums and all of them were very interesting. I especially liked The Museum of International Folk Art. The museum has more than 130,000 objects from more than 100 countries! My favorite object was a smiling skeleton doll. This object’s theme was Day of The Dead. When I saw it, I remembered COCO which is a Pixar movie. I also liked The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Georgia O’Keeffe was an American artist and she painted a lot of flowers and nature. I think her paintings are brimming with kindness ...

Respectable Voice of The Japanese American

Respectable Voice of The Japanese American Chisato Fujii             When I saw this poem, I felt strong feeling of this poet like “I am an American,” and I also felt this poet’s voice like “Why am I not treated as an American?” I’ve never lived in this period of world war Ⅱ , and of course, I’ve never experienced this suffering and war, but I could feel people’s voice of this period thanks to this poet. Without these Japanese Americans’ voices, I couldn’t feel and understand their feeling and thought. When I understand this poem’s meaning, this poem made me sad, but I also understood Japanese Americans were proud of themselves in the middle of the war. I respect them and am proud.

My Unbelievable Southwest Trip

I experienced a lot of amazing things for seven days with my absolutely wonderful teachers and friends from October 15-21 and learned a lot of Southwest culture, history, and nature. For example, we went to about 12 museums and facilities, such as the Pueblo Cultural Center, the University of Mexico, and some churches in New Mexico and Arizona. Therefore, I kept busy on the trip, but it became something I have never experienced because everything I saw was new to me. There are three things that especially impressed me. First, I was attracted to the buildings of New Mexico. These were really different from Spokane, Boston, or Washington D.C. For example, I went to Old Town in Albuquerque. Then I noticed that almost all the buildings were made of adobe. Adobe means mud brick in Spanish, so the buildings I saw were brown and some parts were air blue. I felt comfortable there. I also saw a plaza and a church which were adobe style buildings. The plaza is the most central part in Old T...
