Precious Associations

This semester, I can take part in many events and go to many places. These are precious associations for me. I want to take advantage of every opportunity I can get. Whenever I take part in something or go somewhere, I have strong feeling. There are three things which have been very memorable so far. Effective American Buddhism Temple First, going to an American Buddhism temple excited me. I went to a temple in Spokane, because of my presentation topic. I noticed many things and talked to some peoples at the temple. This temple was very different than temple in Japan, because when I saw the temple at first, I think it was a house. Also I listened to a sermon It was a little strange like a sutra. It was amazing for me. Then I talked with some peoples, I heard many story which were attracted to me. The opportunity was amusing for me.    Second, visiting WSU delighted me. I made friends there. These students study English like us, so they and I are almost as the same r

Golden Memories

I am having a great time in America now. I can grasp much more invaluable opportunity than in Japan. I visited two schools and joined in events called Talk Time. I could use English and make great friends on those days. First, it will be my unforgettable memory that I talked with a Saudi Arabian when I visited Washington State University. I was impressed by her. Her first language and my first language are not the same, but we could talk using English. We talked about our own countries. I didn't know about Saudi Arabia well, but she told me her own country's culture such as clothes, language and so on. In her country, they have country dialects. We also have a country dialects in Japan. We learned the same culture between us, however, if we hadn't studied English, we couldn't know each other. That's why I was moved by our talking. Second, I had a diverting time when I visited Lewis and Clark High School. I met my pen pal and talked with him. His father is Japane

Perfect Opportunities

My Pen-Pal at Lewis and Clark Now I am having a great time in America. My life in the Extension program is very stimulating. I have been able to learn a lot of things here. There are many opportunities to communicate with foreigners in English. It is a better situation than in Japan. Recently, I experienced three wonderful things which I didn’t experience in Japan. First, I had an interesting time when I participated in river cleanup volunteering. It was a first time for me to join volunteering with Americans, so I was excited about it. I was surprised that the consciousness of people who volunteer was high. Many people participated in the volunteering such as families, little children, and groups of school students. They were very kind and worked hard. While I cleaned up around the Spokane River, I could communicate with Americans a little bit. It was a nice opportunity to get to know local residents. For these reasons, I had a good time at the volunteering.

Interesting Differences

I had a great time with my pen pal on Thursday. My pen pal, Max is a senior student at a public high school in Spokane. I visited her Japanese class, and we introduced to each other our country's custom and school life. In class, we had a lunch together. I really enjoyed communicating with her. While we were talking, we were surprised at our differences. Also, I found many interesting things when I walked around her high school. I noticed three differences about this high school compared to my high school in Japan. Wide Hallway First, I was surprised how big the buildings were. Everything was really big for me, such as the ceiling height, hallway width, and the number of classrooms. Japanese high schools are much smaller than America's. When I said "Your high school is so big.", she answered "Oh, really?" with a wondering face. I was really astonished about the sizes, but these were usual things for my pen pal. It was kind of unusual exp
